Uncontested, But Not Coasting
Here’s the latest from the campaign trail: I've been endorsed by our current District 3 City Councilwoman, Robin Pang-Maganaris, and as of the filing deadline, no one else entered the race for Belmont City Council, District 3.
I could ease up. I'm not going to.
Belmont doesn't need a candidate who coasts to a seat. It needs a councilmember who has done the homework before asking for your vote. So the campaign continues just as it started, with the same interest and enthusiasm to serve our community.
Why This Matters So Much to Me
I'm a lucky mom of three raising my family in Belmont, and my career has been built on developing national policy, both as a federal employee and as a government affairs leader in the clean tech industry. I've spent my professional life inside the rooms where policy gets made and budgets get negotiated. I want to bring that same rigor home, to the city my family lives in, and help create new opportunities for our town as we grow and adapt to the needs of today.
The Work So Far
I'm out door knocking across the district, hearing directly from neighbors about what Belmont is getting right and where we still have work to do. I've been attending city council meetings, reading the budget and staff reports to understand our finances, ongoing infrastructure projects, staffing needs across city departments, and the state of our parks, our police force, and our fire department. An endorsement and an open seat don't tell you any of that. Only the work does.
I'm also continuing to help lead the Measure Y campaign to build Belmont a new community center, a project I believe in and will keep pushing until it's funded. I'll step back from that role at the appropriate time.
Come Say Hi at the Water Dog Run
I'm a proud sponsor of the Belmont Water Dog Run on Saturday, September 26 (7 to 10 AM, Twin Pines Park). Come join my team on race day and pick up a "Sarah for Belmont" t-shirt. It's a great morning, and I'd love to see you there.
A few other updates: every yard sign we printed is already out in front yards around town, and I'm evaluating whether we need to order more, reach out if you'd like one. And you'll start seeing us build name awareness and lay out my priorities through social media ads over the coming weeks.
Why the Campaign Still Needs You
None of this changes because the race is uncontested. If anything, it's exactly why I want to earn this seat the right way: with a clear, direct case for what I'll prioritize, made straightforwardly to every Belmont voter, not only the ones a contested race would have forced me to focus on.
Here's exactly where your support goes. I'd rather be specific than ask in the abstract:
$25 helps cover a new batch of yard signs for neighbors
$50 supports social media ads introducing me, and my priorities, to voters who don't know me yet
$100 helps cover printing, events, and sponsorships like the Water Dog Run
